"Contractor of the Year" Award
This project earned the 1997 Contractor of the Year Award for Residential Bath
The clients wanted to create a large master bathroom to serve multiple functions with a definite air of
elegant formality. They wanted to utilize the existing space without putting on an addition or bump out.
We gutted the entire original bathroom, dressing area and two closets. We gave the hallway leading to the bath
a radiused appearance rather than a typical squared pass through.
We installed pocket doors in each closet to reduce visual breaks in the hallway. The makeup area had extra
electrical outlets, angled mirrors and specialty lighting.
We downsized the other closet to accommodate a toilet, vanity, and glass shelves for collectibles.
The fully custom steam shower has large slab marble walls and ceiling with the 3"x3" Rosa Laguna diamond tile
insets. We laid 12"x12" Gio White marble with the 3"x3" Rosa Laguna diamond tile insets to continue throughout
the bathroom.
We installed a double bowl vanity with corner storage tambour door. We used the Rosa Laguna slab for the vanity
top as well. Glass shelves with lighting were installed above the storage garage to create another display area.
We used cherry wood cabinets throughout to give a richness to the room. We furnished and installed a linen cabinet
which included a special pull out hamper drawer at the bottom.
We installed recessed lighting throughout on dimmers. The play of light and dark, soft against hard and the
repetition of these elements created drama, formality, and elegance throughout the bath.
